About 40 minutes away, just off the A30 autovia between Murcia and Cartagena, is the town of Fuenta del Alamo, outside of which,
the Dave Thomas designed course, “Hacienda del Alamo”can be found.

This course is fast becoming the favourite of the local golf enthusiasts and has caught the eye of international competition organisers recently.

The course eases you into a false sense of complacency with a couple of very straight forward par 4's, and gradually ups the ante,
from bunker surrounded platform greens, to bunkers diagonally across the fairways around the maximum driving range,
to across lake tee offs, to over lake par 3's.

The fairways are wide and with very little rough are a pleasure for the accurate golfer, but be wary of the clay embankments alongside,
and in front, of most fairways. Although these are “in play”, unless you are good at “taking the ball clean” you might be better
taking a penalty shot and save your club. Some groups I have been out with use “a free drop from point of entry” rule to balance things out.

As with most really good courses, its the position of your approach shot to the green thats most important,
particularly not being too far away to get “drop and stop” with your pitch. One “over lake” par 3 in particular will challenge
your ability in this respect. I won`t tell you which, I`ll let it surprise you.

I`ve liked this course from the first time I`ve played it, although I have heard criticism of it because of its repetitiveness.
I would still recommend you play it at least once, just for the challenge, and leave with the knowledge, you have played one of the best course in Spain.
