About twenty minutes south on the AP7 alongside the autopista at junction "Los Alcazares Centro" is a 2007 addition to the golf map of the Costa Calida, “La Serena”.
This beautiful, Don Manuel Pinero, designed course was manufactured and built on what was once flat “huerta” or farmland.

It is a course that can be walked, once its not too hot, and enjoyed by all golfers, of all handicaps. Its main challenge is its water,
with at least sixteen holes having some degree of water hazard, varying from alongside fairway. to water surrounded greens.
Playing good percentage golf even the high handicapper can get great enjoyment from the challenge presented by the water.

I first played La Serena in May '08 in the company of friends also playing the course for the first time.
All were medium to high handicappers and all agree the water did not put a dampener
on their enjoyment of the course. My problem was with the par 3`s and overhitting to avoid the water.
All in all we enjoyed our day out and a net 3 over was my reward for having walked the course.
 

This course can only get better as it matures.
A beautiful new addition that I must make a point of playing again soon.
